A true flagship project for the energy transition in residential construction: The two multi-family buildings constructed in 2020 by Umwelt Arena Schweiz cover their entire heating, cooling, and hot water needs with locally generated electricity from building-integrated photovoltaics and rooftop turbines. Technical highlights such as a power-to-gas system, a hybrid box, ice storage, and smart-home controls ensure a perfectly coordinated energy system. The project also focuses on maximizing savings in wastewater: With the installation of 16 Joulia inline shower drains (5-pipe), the heat from the shower water is directly and efficiently recovered.
